5th set of Casts

My Grandma came with me to this appointment. She did AMAZING when they were cutting her casts off she even fell a sleep I thought great baby girl your getting use to this. We both honestly believe that Arley knows Dr. Stotts voice cause has soon has he walked in she started balling!! Boy we were in for it when they went to put them on her. Dr. Stotts had to re cast her twice because she would kick and brake the plaster. Dr. Stotts and I both agreed that this had to be the worst one for her there was no calming down this little women at all.
(This is Mackynzie she loves to be held by Kynzie!!)
She was so so upset. We would normally get her to calm some what down when we would switch her around to do the other foot but no way this time. I felt so bad for her.
Right after the 5th set of casts!! I loved that moment the best when the casts where off and I got to hold and snuggle with my baby with no casts and she was at peace!! She would let out the biggest sigh of relief  like awh there off!!

4th set of Casts

By the time we had her some what back to normal from the third set of casts it was time to go back in for the fourth set. Sad day we had our fingers crossed hoping that it would go better then the last time. She was okay through the cutting off of the casts but has soon

has they came in to do the casts it was game over she was not has bad has the 3rd casts but it was still hard to watch. You know when you have to do the right thing, and it will hurt but it will be for the best in the end? That is what I kept telling my self. She is one strong and amazing little women, she is beautiful and her feet are has well.  We are so blessed to have family and wonderful friends for the help and prayers that has been said for my baby.
Just after the 4th set of casts came off looking good chick a dee!!

This is one of the steps they do to take them off of her!

3rd Set of Casts

Well we thought it would be like the last time man were we so so so wrong. We had a big winter storm here over the weekend and with all that extra moisture it was extremely difficult to get her little casts cut off of her. She started out doing good but by the end of it she was

done and we had not even started casting yet. Every time they would cut and pull to get  the casts off it would just shred. The kept moving and rolling her around we would have her settled and they would move her again and the tears would just come it was really hard to see this happen knowing there was nothing I could do but sing and rub her little head. Then Dr. Stotts came in and did her casts and she was so overly done with that. This experience was not the best at all. This time it took her like four days to get back to normal. Her little system went for a loop she would spit up so much and be so upset so easy is not like our Arley girl.
Her feet right after the third set of casts!! Looking pretty great!!

2nd set of Casts

Here we were ready to get the second set of casts we were all a little nerves wondering how she would do. When they started to cut the first set of casts off she did really really well she cried a little bit but nothing to bad. Then Dr. Stotts came in to do
( This is her second casts. We have green batman by Xander and a purple puppy by Griffin. People also signed this set of cast has well.)
her castings and she did awesome with the first leg but then got supper mad at the other leg when he was doing it she cried and cried. The first day was hard for her but then after that she seemed to do pretty good.
This is how her feet looked like after  the second set of casts improving improving!!

I loved to hold her for that brief moment when the casts were off of her and we got a moment to have her breath and be free of them for a moment!!

She felt so light. They said when we go to weigh her at the drs office to take of 0.6 to 0.9 lbs I know thats not much to us but to a little one I bet they are heavy!!

First Set Of Casts

We made our Dr appointment the next day after I had her and we were scheduled for the second Monday in February to be seen. We went to the Dr appointment and Dr. Stotts did tell us that both feet were in deed clubbed and if we wanted to do the first set of casts today we can. We said okay lets do them then, he also said the one way you can tell she was clubbed is if you touched her little heal it would feel empty it would feel like the bottom part of your ear. Thats because the heal bone has not been dropped down.  She did not like getting her casts on at ALL. She was so pissed off and

was screaming so bad. It tore all of our hearts. Her face went like a red plum color and there was nothing we could do to calm her down. I did okay with the first foot but then got to emotional and had to trade out with Brad and then he had to eventually trade out with my Mom. My Mom was able to calm her down a little bit but not much. They did tell me that the first day was going to be the toughest and they did not lie about that one at all. Every time she would wake up she would scream it took Brad or my Grandma to rub her little head to calm her down so she would even nurse me. We eventually we gave her some baby's Tylenol  and that really really seemed to help cause when the Tylenol was about to wear off she would defiantly let us know.  The boys loved to decorate her little casts so this time we have a pink spider man by Griffin and then we have the HULK done by Xander.

They were so sweet with her with her casts and is always right there to help out when she was crying they are defiantly great big brothers to there little sissy.
This is her feet just after the first set of cast!! Holy cow was my thought look how big of a difference there is.

Her Arrival

She was completely beautiful everything I thought and more. Her Two Cute Little Feet were in deed turned in. It was not a surprise to us cause we already new that it was going to be that way. It was just a complete relief to have her here and to be able to see her and see, touch and kiss those cute feet.

Her bones where all there we could feel them we were even able to stretch her left foot all the way where it looked normal. Her right foot is worse off then her left foot though and thats okay cause its all fixable. If you felt her heal of her foot before we casted them you would feel like your ear lobe there was no bone there and that is the cause of club foot we were told and so thats what we are trying to get moved down. So the next morning after having her we called Dr. Stotts office and made her first appointment to go up and get her first set of casts put on.

Meeting Dr. Stotts for the First time.

Today was the day we were going to go get some answers and I was totally ready. I had my Mom go with me cause Brad was not able to come with me that day. I had a list of about 30 or so questions. I was able to meet with Dr. Alan Stotts he is the most FABULOUS Ortho Dr you could find. He was so kind and was able to put alot of my fears at rest. When I asked him about the Spina Bifida he said that I should have already know about that and since the Ultra Sound Dr said he was 95 % sure she did not have it then we are good. Then I asked about the Down Syndrome or having a type of Syndrome and he said that he has never seen a baby with Downs before. I ask about the Surgery and he said ten years ago that would be the case but now they do the ponseti method for club feet which is they do a set of casts every week  for 6 wks it can go longer and they just try and stretch out there feet. There is a surgery they do and its they poke a whole in there achilles heel and snip the tendon and then wrap it back up for a week and then re stretch the foot and then wrap it back up for two weeks and then she should be good he said.He also told us that after the casts she would have to be in a brace for 23hrs a day for three months straight and then after the three months then she will have to sleep in them till she is the age of 4 years old. He also told us another shocking news that she might not even have the club foot problem there is no way to really tell in just one ultra sound he said if we saw this in more then one ultra sound then yes we could be looking at playing with her feet. He also said that there is no way to tell if  her case was mild or moderate until she gets here and he can touch her to see how felixable she is. He also said that he see's 7 to 10 new baby's each week with this condition. Which was really surprising to me. He did say that by the time she is one she will be walking and on her way to chasing those two older brothers for me. Which was a words I needed to hear. He said that when I have her to call them if she has it and we left. I left that office in way better spirits then I have had the whole week before. I was amazed and new I had just found an amazing Dr.

20 Week Ultra Sound

I was twenty weeks pregnant when we found out that our little Gal was going to be clubbed foot in both feet. It was scary news and it was a total shock to us at first. The ultra sound Dr was a jerk he had us so scared he told us that she was going to have Spina Bifida and that if she did not have that then for sure she was going to have down syndrome or some type of a syndrome problem.  He did tell us that she would have to have surgery right away after having her like with in the first wk of life which it totally NOT true at all. He did tell us that her case was some where between a mild to moderate case. He asked us if it would help if a genetic councilor  called us to talk to us about all of this and we said sure but never got the call though.

This is the ultra sound picture of her feet at 20 wks.

I remember walking out of that ultra sound just in total fear and so over whelmed that I was going to have a baby girl who would not have a chance to be a normal little girl who would not be able to walk, run, skip,  and be able to keep her two older brothers in line  for me. We went right to my Moms house and got online and we googled it and got some good info and not so good info. But the best thing that happened for us is My fabulous Mom called up at Primary children's hospital to the orthopedic department and we got an appointment to go talk to one of the Dr's up there a week later. That week in between the Ultra sound and waiting to go talk to the Dr was hell for me I was so worried and so over whelmed with all of the potability's that could or couldn't happen. I am grateful for my family and friends for the prayers and the fast that we did it truly helped us out.
